Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week

Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program bringing people together across the country to draw attention to issues surrounding hunger and homelessness. In 2019, Bethesda Project raised awareness for its mission and accomplishments in homeless services in Philadelphia. Check out our participation in #HHAWs of years past --> 2016 | 2017 | 2018

Our Young Professionals Advisory Board raised funds and awareness for Bethesda Project at their annual HHAW Fundraising Happy Hour at Dock Street Brewery South!
NOVEMBER 19th

Guests, residents, volunteers and staff joined together for a fun afternoon of festivities at Bethesda Project - North Broad where our most competitive cookers contended for 1st place in this clash of chili. our 2019 winner was Bethesda Project’s Our Brothers’ Place!
November 20th

We had a wonderful time at our annual Happy Hour at Local 44 in West Philly! 100% of sales from Love City Lager benefited Bethesda Project.

Bethesda Project and Keystone First invited members of the Philadelphia community to walk a mile in the shoes of those experiencing poverty by participating in the Community Action Poverty Simulation.
According to Pew Charitable Trusts, Philadelphia is the poorest city among America’s largest cities, and is an indicator that affects many aspects of city life. In this simulation, we hoped to raise awareness on how poverty negatively impacts our city, where nearly 400,000 residents live below the poverty line.
The Poverty Simulation helped participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family, trying to survive from month to month. It is a simulation, not a game. The object was to sensitize participants to the realities faced by people living below the poverty line.
