2024 Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week

Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program bringing people together across the country to draw attention to issues surrounding hunger and homelessness. In 2024, Bethesda Project will recognize this week and raise awareness for its mission and accomplishments in homeless services in Philadelphia.

All Week Long: 2nd Annual Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week Raffle
November 15th - 24th
Try your luck and enter our HHA Week raffle! Purchase tickets online and enter for a chance to win some amazing prizes. A link to the raffle will go live on Friday, November 15th, and remain open through Sunday, November 24th. Winners will be announced on the 25th. All proceeds benefit Bethesda Project - one ticket is one step closer to ending homelessness!
Community Partner Activity: Make & Take with Bethesda Project & Vetri Community Partnership
Tuesday, November 19th, 11am-1pm
Pre-registration required
On November 19th, Bethesda Project and Vetri Community Partnership are coming together to make & take meals together as a community. A group from both organizations will prepare a meal to enjoy and a meal to deliver to Bethesda Project guests.
Film Screening and Panel: Beyond the Bridge: A Solution to Homelessness
Thursday, November 21st, 6:30pm
Philadelphia Film Center (1412 Chestnut Street)
Join us for a screening of Beyond the Bridge, a documentary about successful approaches to reducing homelessness in America. Bethesda Project is proud to support this event with The Corporation for Supportive Housing, Homeless Advocacy Project, National Homeless Law Center, and Pathways to Housing PA.
Community Partner Activity: Outreach Bag Assembly with Small Things Philly
Saturday, November 23rd, 9:30am – 1pm
Resurrection Church (1636 Sansom Street)
Small Things Philly is a nonprofit organization that distributes food, hygiene, and household goods to its network of local partners, including Bethesda Project! For Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Bethesda Project staff will team up with Small Things Philly to assemble outreach bags that will be distributed at Emmanuel Ministry on Saturday, November 23.

Other Happenings:
Bethesda Project’s Legacy Society Members will participate in a day of service and serve a meal at Bethesda Project Our Brothers’ Place on 11/16
Claire Stanley, Case Manager of My Brother’s House, will participate in Old St. Joseph’s Social Justice Committee’s Access to Housing Panel on 11/17.
Kharisma Goldston, Director of Shelter, will participate in The Office of Homeless Services (OHS) Panel Discussion & Networking Hour on 11/20.
To end the week, we will once again host our beloved Community Life event, the Fall Flavors Cook-Off. Each site has been assigned a fall-themed ingredient and will work together to create a recipe.
How can I help during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week?
You can join our mission to be family to those with none during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in a number of ways other than attending our events. These could include:
Inviting a Bethesda Project board or staff member to speak at a meeting, classroom, or event (virtual or in-person)
Participating in a workplace giving campaign in support of the week
Hosting a fundraising event to support Bethesda Project during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
Sponsoring an on-site community life event for guests and residents, like a special meal, BINGO event, or movie night
Hosting a donation drive (financial and/or items from our wishlist)
Making a financial gift
Donating items needed at our shelters from our wishlist
